For Meikayla Moore, her fiftieth appearance in the New Zealand shirt has turned into a true sporting nightmare: she conceded three goals against the USA.

Cologne – hat-trick against the anniversary world champion – unfortunately in the wrong goal: Michaela Moore’s 50th appearance for the New Zealand women’s soccer team has become a sports nightmare. At 0:5 (0:3) in the SheBelieves Cup against the USA, she scored two own goals in the first six minutes (5/6) – then another before the break (36).

New Zealand coach Jitka Klimkova said after the game in Carson, Calif., “It’s been a tough day. Of course she is very disappointed. But she is a great personality and a player who belongs to this team. We are all behind her in this difficult moment.”

Moore, who plays for English second-tier club Liverpool, converted three crosses from the Americans to her goal, twice with her foot and once with her head. A little later it was replaced by comfort on the sidelines.

USA coach Vlatko Andonovsky said: “It is a match and personal goals are part of it. It happens. In fact, she was in a good position in every case, which was unfortunate.”
