The band's other three members, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, tweeted on Friday evening (local time) that he now “unfortunately” has to start a treatment program again in order to work on his recovery. “We are truly sorry to announce to our fans and friends that we have to postpone our upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand.”

Fans of the American metal band were sympathetic on Twitter following the announcement. “Sometimes some things are more important than music – you can't pour anything from an empty cup. Sending lots of love!!! Take care of yourselves and each other,” one Twitter user wrote. Meanwhile, they wished frontman James Hetfield a speedy recovery. “James, please get better. We don't want to lose you either.”
