From August 26 to September 1, Lyon hosts the International Zoological Congress.

This year, the capital of Gaul was chosen to organize the International Conference on Animal Sciences at ISARA, Faculty of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering, Agri-Food and the Environment. From August 26 to September 1, more than 2,200 professionals from 76 countries will discuss animal science, especially to address challenges related to climate change, biodiversity, and the sustainability of global agro-food production systems.

Nutrition, health and animal welfare…

The delegates’ representatives of about 2,200 will present different areas of knowledge related to animal sciences, such as genetics, nutrition, physiology, health, animal welfare… Participants will also have the opportunity to carry out farm visits from a scientific and technological angle, visits to experimental facilities, and referrals to dairy farmers and cheese producers , in Puy de Dome, Rhône, Isère and Savoy.

“The evolution of planet-wide breeding practices in relation to climate issues rallies the scientific community on many scientific fronts. It will for example be at the heart of exchanges because it makes it possible to change the herds, the efficiency of the feeding of the animals and thus the practices of the breeders which can lead to a reduction in the environmental footprint.Jean-Francois Hoquette, Director of Research at the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRAE) and Chairman of the Scientific Organizing Committee of the Conference.

The event is organized by INRAE ​​and the French Zoological Association (AFZ), on behalf of the European Zoological Association (EAAP), the World Zoological Association (WAAP) and France’s Génétique Élevage on behalf of Interbull.
