Laura-Téa Louison-Grépin, New Zealand Foil Champion
Four Tahitian fencing hopefuls took part in the New Zealand Championships this weekend in Christchurch. We will remember Laura-Téa Louison-Grépin’s performance among the cadets. In frustration, the young Polynesian ran flawlessly, especially with a memorable performance in the final. Louison-Grépin made an impressive comeback to win 15-14 and hold the gold, after 13 touches to 7 from New Zealander No. 1. The ‘Aito Papeete’ member also leaves these tournaments with a silver medal he won in the juniors.
For the other three Tahitians, Dimitri Bono, Luis Marie Sanchez and Gael Michel lost with honors in the quarter-finals. The upcoming goals of the Polynesian shooters, the Asian Championships next April.
