Jon Landau Confirms “True Lies,” “The Abyss,” “Avatar,” and “Titanic” for Blu-ray and 4K UHD in 2023
03/16/2023
It’s actually nothing new and doesn’t take us much further, because without official details you can’t do much with it, but we’d still like to point out at this point that our dear colleague Bill Hunt from TheDigitailBits.com had a chance to use producer Jon Landau in person when the movies are released “Avatar – Departure for Pandora” (New Zealand, USA 2009), “the abyss” (USA 1989), “true lies” (Canada, USA 1994) and “Titanic” (USA 1997). In the short video, in which Hunt lengthens the question a bit, there’s only a short but very clear answer from Landau, as he confirms the disc’s release later this year. We’ve linked the video for you below:
Landau thus confirms the persistent rumors about the upcoming release of the films on Blu-ray and also for the first time in 4K on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Of course, nothing concrete can be extracted from this statement. However, another piece of the puzzle has been added, which points to a release in 2023. It’s possible that “Avatar” is the beginning, because a 4K UHD version is at the beginning of the purchase process. “Avatar: The Way of Water” (New Zealand, USA 2022) would be an option. Right now, there isn’t even an actual release date for “Avatar: The Way of Water.” The only thing certain for now is that the sequel will only be available for digital purchase in this country from April 4, 2023. Digitally rated in 4K including Dolby Atmos sound and with over 3 hours of never-before-seen bonus material. (s)
