Japan: What we know about the mysterious 1.5-meter-high ball found on a beach

In Japan, a huge metallic spherical object with a diameter of 1.5 meters washed up on Enshu Beach, located in the city of Hamamatsu. At the moment, the authorities realize that they have no idea about the nature or origin of this mysterious object.

Is it a spy balloon or a UFO? Since Tuesday, February 21, a mysterious metal ball with a diameter of 1.5 meters has been found stuck on Enshu Beach, arousing the curiosity of the Japanese authorities, as well as the residents of the port city of Hamamatsu.

The first photos posted on social networks sparked a flurry of comments, each of them sparking their own theory. For some, it might be a spy balloon like the one that’s been making headlines lately. Others see a trace of a UFO there.

In order not to interfere with the searches and to keep the curious at bay, the police restricted access to a radius of 200 metres.

“hollow” object inside

Even if the authorities didn’t know anything about its provenance, demining experts stepped in to X-ray this mysterious ball. Watchmanthe object is not likely to “explode” because it will be “hollow” inside.

A Hamemetsu resident explained to Japanese media NHK that this mysterious ball had been there for a month, and said, “I tried to move it, but I couldn’t.”

Without excluding him, a course of action of espionage on the part of North Korea or China is not the most privileged at this point.

British media suggest that it could simply have been a mooring buoy that fell into the sea, due to the raised handles on the surface of the ball.
