Inauguration of the Fanny Babou Sports and Entertainment Zone in La Tour-de-France
This newly opened space is located on the Raoul-Cazeneuve Square (open with free admission). It includes a tennis court, a skate park, a multi-sports field, a playground as well as a cheerful place for picnics and barbecues. In this Olympic year, the municipality wanted to highlight the virtues of sport among schoolchildren and residents.
By decision of elected officials, this multi-sport stadium was created to meet the expectations of the population.
This project has been carried out for more than a year by elected officials, associations and the school (use agreements have been signed by the school, four associations and the Agly Fenouillèdes community) and corresponds to real sporting expectations. A play area for young children has then been added.
The multi-sports area was financed by institutional partners with an expenditure amount excluding tax of €80,525 or €96,630 including tax.
This recreational area is named after Fanny Babou, a girl from the village who excelled in the French swimming team, especially with her participation in the London Olympics in 2012.
With the attendance of many political and sports figures from the department, all participants found themselves under the shade of the small forest.
