A bit of California air floats on the beach of Grand Carnac. In fact, from May until the end of September, Gym Kilo has installed an outdoor sports area in the Mégalithe parking lot. Accessible to all, the place allows you to work out all the muscles of the body, visible or deep, all in a unique setting between the maritime pines, the brightness of the seaside and a friendly atmosphere.
“Getting out of the soulless rooms”
If Venice Beach, in Los Angeles, is known worldwide for its many athletes and other bodybuilders who train shirtless, their skin glistening with monochrome, under the scorching sun of the City of Angels, in Carnac it is the first of its kind, except for the clichés. This novelty is carried by two young men from Blouharnelle, Clément Deboer and Alexia Gil. For them, the adventure is just the cornerstone of their “dream” of “opening a sports arena” in their own image and “getting out of the soulless rooms”. Before embarking on the adventure, both currently work, in addition to their summer sports activities, respectively as “security guard in a bar in Carnac” and “in the concierge service”. “Something to keep the days busy”, they add. But no matter how tiring the moment, the emotion is stronger.
“best equipment”
Clément Debuire considers that Gym Kilo offers “the best equipment”. He insists that the weight machines imported directly from the United States allow you to exercise the body “at any age, for all physical conditions and body types”. Everyone will be able to find what they are looking for among “rowers, bikes, dumbbells, bars, free weights”, says the strength sports practitioner. In this sense, since the opening, “500 athletes” have already lifted the iron or cycled in front of the Grand Carnac beach. If everyone can come freely to “do their session”, Gym Kilo also offers sports sessions under the supervision of a coach.
Sport as a means of well-being
Beyond physical maintenance and muscle gain, the creators of Gym Kilo want to promote health through sport. For Alexia Gil, a good practice of physical activity is not done “for a momentary impulse, but thanks to discipline, to the repetition of effort”. Clément Deboer advises everyone “to practice physical activity, to maintain the body but also for the spirit, especially after the age of 50. Moreover, one of our first clients was a lady, of a certain age, who came to ride a bike to move and not let herself get away”, he recalls. The spirit of Gym Kilo is clearly reflected in this image where high-level athletes such as firefighters or weightlifters compete with retirees. Gym Kilo thus welcomes with a sporty and friendly atmosphere and offers advice and training in bodybuilding, all in an idyllic setting.
