How to use the new 3D navigation?
Maps just got better, and everyone can now enjoy the immersive 3D view. This new feature allows you to view a 3D view of buildings nearby, or on the path of your next route. This option is called “Global View”, it brings more realism to your travels and is very easy to use.
It is enabled by default, but is only available for Paris
To activate this new feature, simply update Google Maps by downloading the latest version at this address. With version 11.123.0103, the app provides a small gap at the bottom left when playing a track. If the function does not appear, you can check in the application whether 3D building rendering is activated. You have to go to Settings > Navigation settings > View map > View 3D buildings.
The short presentation will help you navigate the comprehensive presentation maps. Currently, this option is only available in a few cities around the world. In France, only Paris is on the list, and Google is expected to introduce this option to other cities in the future.
Introduced at I/O 2023, Immersive View is designed to work whether you're on foot, on a bike, or in a car. In addition to the French capital, it is available in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tokyo and Venice. It can be used on Android and iOS.
How does the all-inclusive offer work?
Google claims to provide more than 20 billion kilometers of directions every day. The search giant uses artificial intelligence to improve its services and relies on another feature called comprehensive location viewing. Artificial intelligence allows Mountain View to combine billions of aerial images from Street View to provide this 3D option.
The Maps app has seen many changes in recent months. Google wants to improve the user experience by introducing a new system for voice control or operation in tunnels. The mapping service is also continuing its transformation by incorporating generative AI for location searching.
