A reliable source at the Ministry of Interior had indicated that an arrest warrant had been issued against him by the Public Prosecution in the Judicial Center for Combating Terrorism, and he will remain in detention for the purpose of investigation in a case related to his recent statements. .

On the same evening, Ennahda held an emergency press briefing to review the circumstances of the arrest of the leader of the movement, and to make sure that it was a provocation and revenge.

On the third day after his arrest, the investigating judge of Office 33 of the Court of First Instance in Tunis, in the early hours of Thursday, April 20, 2023, issued a subpoena against the sheikh. The judge issued his decision after nine hours of hearing and pleading.

On April 19, the Public Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance in Tunis opened a judicial investigation regarding twelve Islamic figures, on charges of plotting against the internal security of the state and attempting to change the form of the state and inciting the population. to kill each other.
