Each year, just in time for the pre-Christmas shopping season, a familiar phenomenon can be observed: countless top releases by well-established musical acts. In 2022, the US formation garbage group will also participate.
The band’s third greatest hit, “Anthology,” will be released on October 28, although the release of “The Absolute Collection” from 2012 was limited to Australia and New Zealand. Absolute rubbish should be on the shelves of some fans. However, this compilation of results dates back 15 years.
35 newly reworked tracks
Since then, lead vocalist Shirley Manson, guitarist and keyboardist Duke Erickson, drummer Butch Vig and bassist Steve Marker have rocked the band with Not Your Kind Of People (2012), Strange Little Birds (2016), and most recently No Gods No Masters (2021) More material was submitted, which are considered accordingly in the Anthology.
The collection includes 35 tracks in remastered versions, including such well-known singles as “Only Happy when It Rains”, “Queer”, “Stupid Girl”, “Milk”, “Push It”, “Why Do You Love Me” and “Run Baby Run”.
The James Bond anthem “The World Is Not Enough” from 1999 can also be heard. The last time the litter was conducted was at the beginning of October at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. There was a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the James Bond series with the concert “The Sound Of 007”.
No new song material
The number “#1 Crush” comes from the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s movie “Romeo & Juliet,” while “Witness To Your Love” is a true rare song from the “Give Listen Help” charity disc from the 2008 hit. There are also more recent singles like “The Men Who Rule The World” and “No Gods No Masters” are from last year’s long player. Since this wasn’t too far off, Garbage decided not to add any new material to “Anthology”. The release itself is a review of the band’s nearly 30-year history.
It will be available as a double CD and LP double album with a track track list. By the way, the artwork for the better was again designed by the Chilean artist and director Javi Mi Amor, with whom Garbage had already worked on “No Gods No Masters”.
