Free allows all Freebox subscribers to run a full diagnostic on their devices that are considered too slow.
Your connection is not good enough? To help Freebox subscribers, Free offers a network diagnostic tool to analyze and configure their WiFi networks in the best possible way, but now also troubleshoots a device that is considered too slow.
Difficulty connecting, slow speed or very short range, Freebox Ultra, Pop, Delta, Revolution and mini 4K subscribers may sometimes have problems connecting to or using WiFi. Many do not know this but the operator allows them to easily access the official diagnostic tool.
This is found within the Freebox Connect app, which is available for free on Android smartphones and on iOS devices for iPhones. Simply go to “Network” at the bottom of the screen. From there, you can then access the “Network Diagnostics” section, which is just the old “WiFi Diagnostics” section.
My device is very slow
An interesting function is then presented: Troubleshooting a slow device. The operator indicates that slowness can have several causes such as network interference and full bandwidth usage. You will then be asked to choose the device in question, such as a computer, smartphone or Apple TV. An analysis will be launched to determine the potential quality of use in terms of sending emails, browsing the web, watching HD TV and 4K videos. If nothing is reported according to the tool and the problem persists, the application will then offer to contact a consultant, in particular via Free Proxi for eligible customers. A referral to the “free” subscriber area application will then be made.
The launcher also offers in the same section to check your WiFi configuration. Shortly after starting the test (less than 10 seconds in our case), the tool will display the results, indicating the selected parameters (protection type, network visibility, bandwidth, operating status) and recommended adjustments.
Another diagnostic tool for Freebox Pop and Ultra subscribers.
At the end of December 2020, Free published a system update for the Pop player (Player Free TV 4K) that brings a new diagnostic tool, tested by the editorial staff. This tool, called “Freebox Diagnostics”, can be found in the Apps section of the box's Android interface. This reviews the network (connection mode, for example), audio (current volume, for example), video (player display mode), Bluetooth (remote control battery percentage in particular) and TNT. The button allows you to send a report with statistics on problems that users are experiencing.
