France, a business model for work-life balance

According to the “Remote Global Life-Work Balance Index” ranking conducted by Remote, France ranks third among the countries with the best work-life balance. This attitude is explained by companies in France that have a positive attitude towards the balance between the professional and personal lives of workers.

Workers in France also benefit from 36 days of annual leave, a minimum wage and free time commensurate with their working time. French companies have put in place mechanisms that enable workers to develop their personal lives outside of work.

New Zealand, first place in this ranking

New Zealand took first place in the ranking, followed by Spain and France. Australian, New Zealand and Spanish workers are also the best paid.

The Global Remote Work-Life Balance Index ranks companies’ policies and practices to promote work-life balance for workers. Annual leave, sick leave, maternity leave, and number of working hours are among the indicators used in this study. It was implemented in March 2023 and concerns the 60 countries with the highest GDP in the world. This allows France to take third place in this rating.

The United States is in 53rd place

The United States is only 53rd behind the top countries, particularly France, in the ranking. This is due to the lack of mandatory annual leave, sick pay and a comprehensive health care system. American workers also spend a lot of time at work and feel that the company culture does not adequately fit into their personal lives.
