Nothing is going well for the All Blacks who have just lost for the third time in a row, losing to South Africa 26-10 on Saturday in Nelspruit in the opening rugby tournament.

The South Africans put tremendous pressure in defense which frustrated the pass match that is often the strength of the All Blacks, who were put in the back. Springboks scored a half-time attempt from Kurt-Lee Arendse (8th), and flyhalf Handré Pollard scored all other points for the locals.

South Africa reigns supreme

The All Blacks, to whom South Africa only left crumbs in the first period, could count themselves lucky as they were only seven points behind in the first half (10-3), as they were dominated by Local XV, undermining his team. Forward and fierce defense.

Completely outdone, the All Blacks responded only with a Jordie Barrett penalty just before the break and a late-game attempt by Shannon Frizell as South Africa was reduced to 14 after Kurt-Lee Arendse was sent off for dangerous play. But even in numerical inferiority, it was the South Africans who drove the point home by inflicting one last humiliating attempt on the All Blacks by Willie Le Roux, exploiting another mistake to level him between the columns.

Australia beat Argentina

Australia made an impressive rugby debut by defeating Argentina 41-26. It was no small feat even though the Australians were late for almost the entirety of the game.

Pablo Matera opened the scoring for the Argentines and joined them in the 65th minute with a penalty kick from Rees Hodge (27-26), while Australia was short. The Wallabies then scored their fifth attempt, synonymous with the offensive bonus point, by Ikitau in overtime (80 + 5).

New Zealand suffered two consecutive losses to Ireland in July. While the Springboks remain masters at home against the All Blacks: 26 wins, against New Zealand’s 24.
