Florence Astronomy Festival starts in 10 days
The Astronomy Festival takes place from August 2 to 9 with the same ambition: to make people dream and raise awareness.
Originally, it was a few friends who decided in 1991 to share their passion for astronomy and make it accessible to everyone. Today, the adventure continues, led by a solid core of committed scientists, always true to the core goals: to make people dream and raise awareness.
Dream while discovering the wonders of our sky, by uncovering its secrets, by discovering the history of the universe and the origins of man in the sky. Dream, but also take advantage of the attraction of the sky to learn about the Earth: what the planet is, how it works, what are the dangers that threaten it, and the means of protecting it…

The 2024 Florence Astronomy Festival will focus on infinity this summer
So many questions the festival seeks to answer! It is this originality that has made the Florence Astronomy Festival a unique popular event. Almost 500 scientists have already invested, under the patronage of Hubert Reeves, in making these meetings an event that stands out from the others and that evolves and enriches every year. This development and the rich programme allow everyone to find something to their liking.
Making science accessible to everyone!
Not only because it allows us to discover and understand the world, but also because the scientific method allows us to have an objective vision of it. In an era marked by the return of beliefs and the spread of fake news, the scientific method, which leads to asking questions and questioning certainties and appearances, allows everyone to have a rational idea of things and thus be able to act clearly and freely with full knowledge of the facts.
The festival invites us to look up to the sky, to discover the universe of which we are a part, to uncover its secrets and admire its beauty, but also or above all, to look down to the Earth from the sky, to realize its existence, its fragility and the need to protect it. The Earth is our home in the universe and we will have no other.
