European Rugby Club for Professionals | Sexton and Ireland make history against New Zealand

Against New Zealand this Saturday, Ireland won the opening half of Leinster Rugby Jonathan Sexton’s first-ever win at the All Blacks ground (23-12).

This Saturday 9th July is forever engraved in Irish rugby history! On the occasion of their second test match against the All Blacks, the Irish established themselves for the first time on New Zealand soil (23-12). Six years after scoring their first success against the 15th at Fern Argentina, in Chicago (40-29), and just eight months after dropping that same team at Aviva Stadium in Dublin (29-20), Andy Farrell’s men are once again bent on their Formation of Ian Foster (23-12).

On Dunedin Meadow, the Irishman started the match perfectly with an attempt from Andrew Porter from the fifth minute of play. The Leinster rugby column made themselves a second-half brace (49), allowing the XV of Clover to cement their lead. Ireland finally sealed their historic victory by relying on accuracy at the foot of Leicester opener Jonathan Sexton, who has 13 points. As a reminder, since 2016, Ireland has won four of the last seven encounters with New Zealand.
