his 8This version, Hlos Challenge, formerly known as ‘Running for Autism’, will combine athletic challenges with moving spaces to spread the innovative concept of a futuristic villa.
ST-AUGUSTIN-DE-DESMAURES, QCAnd August 17, 2023 /CNW/ – On Saturday, October 7, Espace-Vie TSA will launch a challenge for people with autism, families, runners, and anyone who wants to make a tangible contribution to advancing an innovative housing project for young adults. Capital National Challenges.
You don’t need to be a racing specialist to participate. This year, in addition to the 5km (individual or corporate challenge) and 10km races, sanctioned by the Quebec Athletics Federation, the Hlos Challenge will also include a 2.5km walking track as well as a crazy, animated concept. This fun family rally will allow teams that have found the correct spots to collect points based on fun puzzles and challenges. The event will be held in a fun atmosphere and will be animated by costumed animators to impress young and old alike!
The Helos Challenge from Espace-Vie TSA aims to raise funds to build an adaptive living environment that meets the specific and complex needs of significantly challenged autistic youth. Organized by a small team and over 100 volunteers, this sporting event aims to raise awareness among all residents and decision makers of the importance and urgency of making housing models adapted to the specific needs of accessible people. Autism, local mobilization of residents to promote social accessibility and sustainable development and the autism sector community behind a project that will improve the quality of life of residents and their families.
A stark lack of suitable living environments
A group of parents and professionals want to collaborate to fill a stark shortage of living environments that are adapted to the specific needs of people with autism. Currently, in the Quebec region, there is no housing exclusively for them. Through its comprehensive and consistent approach, EVTSA will be able to address this need and will influence and inspire the development of a new residential approach.
Maxence’s mother, Marie-José Dutel, 32, a young woman with autism and chair of the organization’s board of directors, talks about what she’s going through with her son. After the age of 21, the age at which a school career ends, it becomes a black hole for young people and their families, whether for access to residential services or social-professional activities where waiting lists are counted in years. This situation puts young people and families in an awkward position and causes a great deal of worry and anxiety. It’s time to do things differently and work to improve the quality of life of autistic adults with significant challenges.
An opportunity to contribute and benefit too!
The Hlos Challenge therefore invites the public, families, runners or pedestrians to take part in the action thus encouraging autistic participants to take up the challenge! It is also an opportunity to set goals with colleagues, family or friends and even virtually! Door prizes are planned, as well as eight (8) animated spaces including, among others: inflatable games, moving gym, pumpkin decor, sensory activities, fireplaces with marshmallows, DJ, snacks and more much!
