El-Ayoun: Hubert Celan presents his book “The Moroccan Sahara: Place and Time”

The ceremony for the presentation of this book was held during the closing session of the fourth session of the Franco-Moroccan meetings on development work in the southern provinces, which began under the slogan “Out of Obscurity” by the Franco-Moroccan Peace. and the Foundation for Sustainable Development in partnership with the Ribat Al-Fath Association.

Mr. Ceylan, also a French writer and jurist, took this opportunity to provide an update of the more enriching second edition of his 248-page book designed as a historical novel with economic, social, legal and political overtones.

The work is a moment to share the different moments of the writer’s “journey,” where time and place meet and unite, with the aim of opening paths of knowledge in the region, taking the different paths offered by geography, history, and law.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Ceylan explained that it is about showing the territorial integrity of Morocco throughout history and geography, which it maintained even during the period of protection by ancient natural, geographical, historical, economic and cultural forces.

He pointed out that the main objective of his book is to introduce this issue to readers outside Morocco, while welcoming the social, economic and urban development experienced by the southern states, especially the city of El-Ayoun.

In this regard, the head of the French-Moroccan Foundation for Peace and Sustainable Development compared El-Ayoun and all of the Moroccan Sahara to “New California”, which experienced urban and industrial expansion in less than a century.

The second edition of the book “The Moroccan Sahara: Space and Time”, published by the “Crossroads” editions in November 2021, has been enriched by taking into account the recent developments in the Moroccan Sahara file in 2020 and 2021.

Launched under the slogan “Leaving the Obscurity” by the Franco-Moroccan Foundation for Peace and Sustainable Development, in partnership with the Association Ribat El Fath, the Franco-Moroccan meetings organized in Guelmim (September 19-20), Tan-Tan (September). 21), Smara (September 22-23) and Laayoune (September 24), focus on sustainable human development programs in the economic, scientific, cultural, tourism and urban planning fields.

These meetings revolve around economic, cultural and agricultural issues, which makes it possible to discover urban, industrial and tourism development programs, as well as the extraordinary achievements of the regions of the south of the Kingdom that have become formerly desert “today.
