Eddie Murphy receiving an honorary Golden Globe Award – Radio Euskirchen

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Star comedian Eddie Murphy, 61, will receive an honorary award at the Golden Globes in January. “It is an honor for us to present this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award to the famous and highly respected Mr. Eddie Murphy,” CNN quoted FPA President Helen Hoen. The award celebrates “the impact his career – in front of and behind the camera – has had on film and television over the decades,” says Hohen.

Murphy has already won a Golden Globe Award for his role in Dreamgirls (2007) and has been nominated for six Golden Globe Awards. He made it to the age of 19 as a stand-up comedian on the satirical show Saturday Night Live and has starred in movies like The Prince of Zamunda, Beverly Hills Cop, and The Nutty Professor.

At the final Golden Globes ceremony in January 2022, the Cecil B. DeMille Award was not presented when massive criticism of a lack of diversity led to the televised ceremony’s cancellation. Actress and activist Jane Fonda was honored with the honorary award in 2021. Previous winners include Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster, George Clooney, and Robert De Niro. The 80th Golden Globes will be held on January 10.
