Canadian kills, rapes, dismembers four women
Jeremy Skibicki, a 37-year-old Canadian, has admitted to stalking vulnerable Indigenous women in homeless shelters and killing four of them between March and May 2022. He then raped them, dismembered them and dumped them in the trash.
Calculated and racially motivated crimes. In May 2022, a man searching for scrap metal was rummaging through a trash can in Winnipeg, a city of 820,000 in southern Canada, when he discovered human remains. The person immediately called emergency services, telling them the woman the body belonged to had been “clearly murdered.”
After identifying the bodies, police confirmed that the remains were those of Rebecca Contois, a 24-year-old mother from the Indigenous community who had been living on the streets since leaving her family a year ago. Police also tracked down a suspect, a man who lived in an apartment in the housing complex where the gruesome discovery was made, Jeremy Skibicki.
Confronted by investigators, the 37-year-old did not seek to deny the facts, and even confessed to killing three other women, between March and May 2022, according to reports. Upton News.
He chased after indigenous women.
In his confession, Jeremy Skibicki described “stalking” vulnerable women in the city’s homeless shelters and killing at least four indigenous people, crimes he described as “racially motivated.” The victims were later identified as Morgan Harris, 39, Marcedes Meyran, 26, and Rebaca Contois. A fourth victim, who has yet to be identified, was dubbed “Mashkud Bejikikwe,” or “buffalo woman,” by indigenous elders.
It was discovered that Jeremy Skibicki first assaulted them, then strangled or drowned them and performed sexual acts on them, before dismembering their bodies and throwing them in trash cans. Unfortunately, the remains of Morgan Harris and Mercedes Meran were dumped in the Prairie Green landfill and have not been recovered. As for Mashkodi Bejikikoi, police still do not know where she is buried.
“expressing purely racist views”
During his trial in June 2024, Jeremy Skibicki’s lawyers tried to convince their client to admit that he was “not criminally responsible” for his actions, citing mental disorders, particularly schizophrenia. It was a line of defense that prosecutors ignored, saying the Canadian was fully aware of his actions and that they were “willful, deliberate and racially motivated.”
Verdict: Judge declares Jeremy Skibicki 'guilty' of murdering Morgan Harris, Marcedes Meran, Rebaca Kontoa and Mashkod Bejikikowi on Thursday, July 11. This has brought 'huge relief' to the victims' families, the Daily Mail reports. BBCHis sentence is not yet known, but he faces life in prison, without the possibility of parole for 25 years, according to the British newspaper, Daily Mail. Radio Canada.
It is clear from Jeremy Skibicki's confession to police that this is a man expressing purely racist views.
