Building under construction collapsed in Lagos, workers wanted under rubble

The emergency services are not providing any assessment yet, but they fear a tragedy. a A skyscraper under construction in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, home to 15 million people, collapsed on Monday (November 1). The search is underway to find potential victims or buried survivors.
“This is a 25-storey building that is still under construction. Many workers are trapped under the rubble. We are trying to save them.”said Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, an official with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. “We cannot determine the number of dead at the moment. The rescue operation is underway,” he added.
According to residents and workers at the site, interviewed by AFP journalists, dozens of people could be inside. Workers and neighbors were trying to get them out of the rubble shortly after the collapse, the reason for this is still unknown.
