Born in 1927, the Boussaquin circuit continues on its way. The 89th edition of the Elite Race 1 and 2 will take place on Monday, April 24th, and the Union Cycliste Boussaquine will be in charge. Since its inception, the circuit of more than 130 km has changed a lot. But this year, its design has not changed compared to last year.
Cruz’s only national elite race
Despite the passing of the years, the Boussaquin circuit remains just as important to the organizing club and Creuse. “It’s a show, our biggest organization. This is the only national elite race left in the division.” Kristin Royat, the 123-year-old club president, is reporting. For this 89th edition, the organizers have announced that there will be 120 runners, 16 teams, in the competition. The Bosquin circuit enjoys a good reputation, Emphasizes. It was ridden by great runners.”. Including New Zealand’s Hayden Rolston, winner in 2002 and two-time medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. “Some runners turn pro, this race is a stepping stone”-supports UCB head.
By dividing it into several parts, the competition will give many rewards. “The circuit passes through 5 cities. Participants do a 29km loop and 11 short laps in Busac. A 29km course, then another 25km, for a total of 137km”Christine Royat explains. The Florent-Sentucq Trophy will be awarded at the finish line during the first passing of the short laps. Regarding the Jacky-Pavageau Award for Best Climber, it will be awarded to the best climber, immediately after the three ascents in Toulx-Sainte-Croix. Second last year, former pro rider Yannick Martinez was the favourite. This year Nivernais is riding with Atria-VS Gerzatois, a team from Auvergne playing in National 3 that was born in 2023.
