Australians burn in New Zealand
Christopher Wood remains the New Zealand Open leader after the second day. The Australian is a step ahead of compatriot Shay Walls’ Cup. “ It’s a little disappointing to lose three strokes over the last four holes, but I’m not complaining too much Wood said at the end of the day.
Author of 6 birdies to 5 for wood, Walls’ Cup tea took a score of 64 (-7) on day two. ” The last four weeks have given me a lot of confidence in the way I’ve played. The key today was the hot start. I was very close to the target early on and was down to four going into the fifth round. No really bad shots hit so it was easy Walls Cop reported.
Scott Hind is still there
They are followed by Scott Hind, author of Vulture in 10 and 7 Birds. The Australian is two strokes behind Wood. From behind, John Lleras signs a card 62 (-9), the best score of the second round. The 26-year-old finds himself fourth (-9) with Jaewoong Eom, Terumichi Kakazu and Kazuma Kobori (amateur).
At No. 8 are four players at -8: Ryan Gibson, Terry Belcadaris, Thomas Power Horan and John Charwenkole.
Beyond the top ten
In twelfth place are fourteen players at -7, including Brad Kennedy (currently second best player on the field and winner in 2017). Chan Shih Chang, the victor on the European Tour, finds himself in 51st at -4 and misses the cut. The best player on the field, Yuto Katsuragawa (Yesterday’s 79) fell to 107th and thus didn’t make it through the cut.
