Aaron Paul and Eiza Gonzalez will replace Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tessa Thompson in Ashes.

The ‘Breaking Bad’ actor and ‘Baby Driver’ actress have joined the cast of Kuso’s sci-fi thriller Flying Lotus, taking on roles announced for the other two stars last summer.

Set to begin production in New Zealand in May, the film tells the story of a woman (Gonzalez) who wakes up on a distant planet to find the rest of the crew on her space station murdered. Now she has to decide if she can trust the person Paul sent to save her. Flying Lotus, who also composes the film’s original music, said in a statement: “We’re building something new and unique with ‘Ash’ and Iza and Aaron’s presence in this world ignites everything. They are absolute magicians, daring and inspiring in equal measure. That’s all there is to say.. We’ll shake it.”

Producers Matthew Metcalfe of Gfc and Nate Bolotin of Xyz Films have welcomed the new cast and are also excited to be working with Flying Lotus, whose real name is Stephen Ellison. “At the helm of visionary artists Flying Lotus and now in collaboration with the incredibly talented Eiza González and Aaron Paul, we are excited to embark on this journey to bring the unique world of ‘Ash’ to life,” they said in a joint statement.
