Italian man admits to killing four elderly people

A 48-year-old Italian has accused himself of killing four elderly people he had helped over the past 10 years, media in the peninsula reported on Friday, August 23. Mario Utizia, 48, presented himself on Thursday at the Carabinieri barracks in Caserta, southern Italy, claiming to be responsible for the deaths of four people under his care.

“I need someone to stop me. If I keep going I might do it again.”he would have said, according to the website of Corriere della Sera. “I wanted to end their suffering.”He also said, according to the website, La Repubblica.

They all had cancer.

Two of his victims have reportedly been identified, a 95-year-old man who died last March and an 88-year-old man who died in December 2023, whose deaths were never considered suspicious given their health conditions. The other two deaths he is accused of dating back to 2014 in the town of Latina, not far from Rome, have yet to be identified.
