It is rare for a Republican presidential candidate to have his ardent critics rush to support him. Including France, where most political leaders, including Emmanuel Macron, have made benevolent comments.
A few hours of consensus was not enough to calm the deeply polarized political class in the transatlantic battle. If Vice President Kamala Harris’s victory is seen by all as a continuation of the current Democratic administration, Donald Trump’s return to the White House is already bringing a cold sweat to some.
