Overnight from Monday to Tuesday, a “super blue moon” appeared in the sky, providing the lucky ones with some amazing photos.

A breathtaking sight. On the night of Monday, August 19, many observers, located in the four corners of the planet, had the opportunity to contemplate the magnificent “Super Blue Moon” rising in the sky.

A few kilometers away, the blue moon rose behind the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem (Israel), a holy shrine built at the end of the seventh century on the Temple Mount.

The few wanderers in the central square of Beirut (Lebanon) were also able to see this exceptional full moon, shaded behind the statue of the martyrs.

Under the flames of an oil field in the coastal city of Basra, Iraq, the moon gave the surprising impression that it was burning.

In Europe this time, the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City (Italy) was placed next to this red star hanging in the sky.

To the north, Swedes admired the satellite as it rose peacefully behind the Stockholm town of Nacka.

Not far away, in the blue night of Copenhagen, Denmark, the moon lined up perfectly with one of the city's buildings.

Finally, it appears to cast a shadow over the buildings of the Lujiazui business district in Shanghai, China. A number of passersby stopped to take pictures of the night star.

As the sun sets around 9 p.m. in France, the “super blue moon” will be visible from France, at least during the first part of the night. Météo France says the sky will be clear, with no clouds to spoil the party.

If you can't see the star out your window this evening, don't worry. NASA says the moon will remain full until Wednesday morning.
