Republicans unite for Kamala Harris
After the assassination attempt on Donald Trump and Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the Oval Office for a second term, we are witnessing another stunning shift in the exciting race for the White House. Since early August, a group of Republicans in several states, including Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, have come together under the name “Republicans for Harris.”
The initiative does not fail to amaze when we learn how much Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump has an iron grip on the Grand Old Party. It reflects a state of discontent within the Republican Party with a candidate who, in their view, threatens democratic institutions. However, it comes from the team of candidate Kamala Harris, who launched the “Republicans for Harris” program in an attempt to attract moderates from the center-right who believe that Donald Trump poses a danger to America. “Trump’s extremism is toxic to millions of Republicans who believe that Donald Trump’s party no longer represents their values,” says Austin Weatherford, the head of this program for Democrats. This time, the issue goes beyond purely political affiliation. Democrats do not hesitate to invite Republican supporters of Harris to the stage during election rallies.
