New Zealand is isolated in the waters of the South Pacific Ocean, and has long been spared human intervention. In search of authenticity, the viewer gets to know the entire island nation, passing through the heart of New Zealand: from Fiordland, home of the Hobbits, where lakes and fjords meander through a grass-green mountainous landscape, to Cape Reinga, the northern part of the country. Along the secluded sandy beaches are home to wild horses, high-quality aerial shots, controlled by Alfie Speight, who became a legend in The Lord of the Rings, make the film a natural spectacle. So close to the peaks of the New Zealand Alps, over the rooftops of the capital Wellington, past the thundering volcanoes of Tongariro National Park and up to the treetops of the jungle – each stop provides an insight into the country's history and unique animal world, for example the flightless kakapo, the scent-smelling parrots Honey during mating season.

But the beauty of nature is threatened. Also in New Zealand, climate change is causing huge glaciers to melt, and livestock farming and monocultures have caused the desertification of entire areas of land.
