Espace Lamartine was rewarded for its sustainable design
At the beginning of September, Espace Lamartine opened its doors after three years of operation. A project that adheres to the theme of sustainable construction.
The new building that today houses the new Espace Lamartine – a place of activities and entertainment for Monaco and residents, maintains the silver level awarded to it by the Monaco Commission for Sustainable Mediterranean Buildings in 2019 for the design phase. This time, it is the “Achievement” stage that is rewarded.
When it reopened, the place was no longer recognizable after three years of operation. In addition to the upscale and elegant aesthetic, the municipal council wanted the site to incorporate a BHD2 million curriculum. This approach includes 3 stages that are evaluated by the BD2M committee at each stage: design, production and use.
Reduce consumption
Designed using a bioclimatic and sustainable development approach, the building aims to preserve the environment by reducing consumption and incorporating the well-being of users. Among the strengths of the design: environmental or reused materials, optimized water management, installation of air circulation fans, efficient heat pumps, blinds to better manage solar input, photovoltaic panels, extensive LED lighting and more.
Espace Lamartine is the first municipal building to achieve the silver level as part of the BD2 million approach.
