The Cook Islands in the Polynesian part of the Pacific Ocean are home to the Maori, as the indigenous people of the Kingdom of the Turquoise Lakes are called. Thomas Juncker then visits the country that the Maori rediscovered during one of their expeditions more than 700 years ago: New Zealand. Once again, encounters with people and their daily lives are the meaning and purpose of Thomas Juncker’s documentary series. The focus is on the daily lives of ordinary people. How they work, what they think, what their culture is and what they believe; What they desire and what motivates them; Their hopes and dreams. Through the film, viewers will learn about the culture and traditions of the people in the Cook Islands and New Zealand, especially the history of the Maori people, the indigenous people of both countries. There are also many stories about the kiwi, as not only the fruit and bird are called today, but also the white population of New Zealand. The fifth part takes place in the South Island of New Zealand, which contains many stories. Of course, millions of sheep are important here, but so are whiskey production, the joys of winter in the New Zealand Alps and daily life in the small town of Queenstown on the other side of the world.
