Jasna (dpa) – In the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup, a thrilling showdown appears to win the year. Petra Vlhova won the giant slalom at her home in Jasna, Slovakia, thus narrowing the lead to Lara Gut Behrami to 36 points in the big crystal ball battle.

With the momentum created by an emotional weekend – Vlova had already finished second in the slalom race on Saturday – the Slovak wants the race for its first overall victory in the remaining six races just a few kilometers from her hometown.

“It’s very difficult for me to say something now,” the 25-year-old said, to the chants of the few observers on the track and tears in her eyes. The World Cup is her big goal. But in January it weakened and Bahrami Got overtook it.

The Swiss world champion could have scored big goals at Jasna, but missed the first half due to a foul mistake and ended up in only ninth place. Since three of the remaining six races are slalom, it is no longer the favorite ball of choice compared to Vlhova.

The Slovak won the giant slalom on Sunday ahead of Alice Robinson of New Zealand (+0.16) and Michaela Schiffrin (+0.37), who was still in the lead after the first half. The American won the slalom race on Saturday and confirmed her late form this season. With fourth place, Italian Marta Pacino scored an early victory in the giant slalom.

Jessica Helsinger of the German ski team missed the final as she missed the race for 34 in the first half, and Andrea Welser was eliminated. In the seventh Giant Slalom of this first season after Victoria Ribbensburg resigned, the DSV women went empty-handed for the fifth time.
