The opening match between New Zealand and Norway will take place in Auckland a few hours before the match and, according to Pecci, “a few thousand” tickets are still available for the match. However, the official expects that the remaining tickets will also be sold out before the start of the tournament. “It’s going to be a great day for women’s football,” Peachey said.
According to FIFA, around 1.1 million tickets have been sold for the 64 games in Australia and New Zealand to date. However, the gap is wide: while around 830,000 tickets were sold in Australia, it’s only about 270,000 tickets in New Zealand.
The German national team will start the tournament against Morocco in Melbourne on July 24th.
