National coach Gordon Herbert’s team meets hosts Japan, Australia and Finland in Okinawa. This was the result of the draw on Saturday in Manila / Philippines. The tournament will be held from August 25 to September 10 in Manila, Okinawa and Jakarta / Indonesia.

“It can help us to go to the championship at 100 percent. It helped us a lot in the European Championships. If we focus on ourselves, we should advance in our group,” said Daniel Theiss, national team player at MagentaSport. “It’s obviously a very difficult group,” said teammate Johannes Thiemann.
A four-person relay eight was formed in Manila, two teams reached the second tournament stage with four new groups – then the quarter-finals followed. Only the two best European teams get a starting spot in the Olympic Games World Cup Paris 2024. If that doesn’t work out, the DBB team must at least get a ticket to a qualifying tournament.
Preparation for the World Cup begins with a tournament in Bonn, where an international match will be played against Sweden (5 August). Four days later it was in Berlin against Canada, after that the Super Cup was held in Hamburg on 12/13. August (with Canada, China and New Zealand). Finally, there will be endurance tests against Greece and the USA in Abu Dhabi on August 19th and 20th.
At the 2019 World Cup in China, the German national team under predecessor Herbert Henrik Rudel disappointed with an 18th-place finish. However, the DBB team has at least secured an Olympic qualifying tournament ticket, winning it in Split/Croatia and taking part in the 2021 Summer Games in Tokyo.
