Rugby 7 – New Zealand is the first team to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics
Winners of the HSBC Singapore Sevens this weekend, the New Zealanders have now qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. They became the first team to join France in the competition.

Winners in Singapore Over the weekend, the All Blacks Sevens claimed their fourth HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2023 title and their first Singapore title since 2005. Topping the world rankings with 164 points, they secured their place at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, thus It became the first men’s team to join France, and qualified automatically as the host country.
Scrum half Leroy Carter said: “Our first goal was to secure our place in the Olympic Games. Now that that’s been done, all we have to do is finish the streak.”.

Black fern already qualified
In the women’s tournament, New Zealand took advantage of Canada’s second leg earlier this month to qualify. Americans and Australians won their tickets last week in Hong Kong. Ireland, Fiji and Great Britain are still battling for the last place in the qualifiers.
