Emma Raducano talks about her time in New Zealand after her bitter end in Auckland

Emma Raducano admitted it was an unfortunate end to her campaign in Auckland, but noted that she left New Zealand with “some fond memories”. Raducanu, 20, made his ASB Classic debut in the first week of the 2023 season.

After defeating Linda Frohvertova in the first round of Auckland, Radukanu had to abandon her round of 16 match against Viktoria Kuzmova after severely injuring her ankle.

“The end of (sad emoji) but I will still leave New Zealand with fond memories – here are some last week afternoons on the beach up north after training,” Raducano said on Twitter.

Raducanu travels to Melbourne but his fate is uncertain.

Raducano, who has struggled to get stronger in the off-season, is visibly depressed after suffering an injury in her first tournament of the season.

Because it was still raining, the Auckland organizers moved Radukano’s match against Kuzmova indoors. After Raducanu sprained her ankle, she said she was not surprised at the injury she sustained, as the indoor courts were “incredibly slippery”.

“It’s hard to bear. I’ve done a lot of physical work over the past few months and I’ve been feeling good and upbeat. So a strange injury, sprained my ankle, it’s very frustrating, stopped me from the first extra week.”

I thought I played tennis well. The courts are incredibly smooth, and even very slippery, to be honest, it’s no surprise that this could happen to anyone. “It’s out of my control,” Raducano said after the match.

According to reports from Britain, Raducanu and his team decided to fly to Melbourne. However, his fate at the Australian Open is still up in the air. Raducanu and his team hope the ankle injury was just a simple sprain.
