The President of Vietnam meets with the Prime Minister of New Zealand

During a December 6 interview in Wellington with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Vietnamese National Assembly Speaker Phuong Dinh Hue said his country is committed to strengthening its relations and cooperation with New Zealand in all fields.

During the meeting, Fong Dinh Hue stressed the importance of his and the New Zealand Prime Minister’s recent visit to Vietnam, which represents the two countries’ determination to further strengthen their strategic partnership relations.

He referred to the activities of the high-level Vietnamese parliamentary delegation to the country and expressed his desire to boost bilateral trade to $2 billion next year.

He suggested increasing cooperation in the fields of aviation and tourism, and establishing direct flights between the two countries to create appropriate conditions for travel for businessmen and tourists.

He also urged the New Zealand side to consider removing trade barriers and avoiding imposing trade protection measures to facilitate bilateral trade as much as possible, as well as putting forward trade promotion programs.

He wanted New Zealand to open secondary and higher education training institutions in Vietnam.

In turn, the New Zealand leader shared good impressions of her visit to Vietnam last November, particularly its achievements in development and economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

She endorsed the Vietnamese NA chair’s proposals and commended the two countries’ willingness to continue to intensify cooperation in the field of education.

The New Zealand Prime Minister pledged to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese work in her country, and expressed her appreciation for the organization of economic and educational forums by the two countries during the visit of the President of the Republic of Vietnam AN Vuong Dinh Hue.
