Women’s World Cup. France, New Zealand, England, Canada…the favorites are all at the time of the semi-finals
No surprises. And almost no suspense. The last two matches of the Women’s World Cup quarter-finals, played last night from Saturday to Sunday at Waitakere Stadium in Auckland, gave very logical results.
England first beat Australia 41-5 (MT: 19-5, 7 tries to 1), before Canada emulated them by eliminating their neighbour, the United States, 32-11 (MT: 12-8, 4 tries to 1).
By the way, it should be noted that the third midfielder and captain of the Red Roses Sarah Hunter broke the world record for selection of a rugby player (138), which she stole from her compatriot Rochelle Clark.
form of continuity
English and Canadian thus join France and New Zealand, who qualified the day before, again with large gaps over Italy (39-3) and Wales (55-3).
The four selections for the top four in the World Rugby World Ranking will therefore meet head-to-head on Saturday 4 November at Eden Park in Auckland: Canada (3rd) – England (1st) at 4:30am (French time) and New Zealand (2nd) – France (4th) at 7:30 am; Both posters were broadcast live on TF1.
Note that three of these four selections (New Zealand, England and France) were already in the final four of the 2017 edition, contested in Ireland. Only Canada (second in the 2014 edition in France) regained its place at the expense of the United States.
