American Time magazine named Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “Person of the Year”, who also praised Ukraine’s “spirit”.

The American Time magazine chose the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who embodied his country’s resistance to the invasion of Russia, as the Person of the Year 2022.

“Whether the fight for Ukraine generates hope or fear, Volodymyr Zelensky has galvanized the world in a way not seen in decades,” wrote Time magazine editor Edward Felsenthal.

Already Financial Times Person of the Year

The Ukrainian president had already been awarded the honors two days earlier by the Finacial Times, which also named him Person of the Year.

“The 44-year-old Zelensky, considered by many Ukrainians before the February invasion to be a bit of a joke, an amateur struggling to rise to the challenge of high office, has earned a place in history with his extraordinary leadership and courage,” wrote The Financial Times.
