Apple iPad 10 test: Finally something new for the “classic” Apple tablet

In addition to the new design, the 10th generation iPad welcomes an improved photo module. It thus goes from 8 to 12 megapixels and takes over the iPad Air 4 and 5 sensor.

Main unit: 12 MP, f / 1.8

The transition to a more specific sensor can be clearly seen when compared to last year’s model. The shot is more detailed, it has better colorimetry and, above all, the smoothing of the program is less noticeable. The exposure generally remains the same, which is one of Apple’s strengths.

Same thing in low light. If the image is not really usable, there is better exposure, less smoothing, and less digital noise.

Front and video unit

At the front, the iPad 2022 takes the front unit of the iPad 2021. But the more modern thing is the placement of this camera which is no longer accessible when holding the tablet vertically, but in landscape mode. A perfect location for FaceTime and other video calls, especially since the iPad has never been so good at this exercise since the arrival of the Center Stage. As for the quality of selfies, it is identical to the quality of last year. It’s more than true and would be perfect for those who are venturing into self-portraits with a tablet.

In video, the device can now shoot up to 4K at 60 frames per second. A huge improvement over the previous model which, remember, can only shoot at 1080p at 30fps.
