Belgium Open – Ryan Fox takes the lead single-handedly, Thomas Peters drops to 35

(Belgium) New Zealand’s Ryan Fox isolated himself in the lead after the third round of the Belgium Open, a $2 million European Tour (DP World Tour) held at Rinkefen International Golf Course, on Saturday, in Schelde. Thomas Peters, the only Belgian to make that cut, slipped to 35th.

With a third round completed in 66 shots, five of which were below par, including six birds and a ghost, Fox held the lead in the tournament alone. With a total of 202 shots, he is one step ahead of England’s Sam Horsfield and two steps ahead of Germany’s Yannick Ball. The only Belgian to pass the cut on Friday, Thomas Peters gave him a 71-shot card, par, in this third round with a five-bird, bogeyman and double bogeyman. A performance that led him to a thirty-fifth place, which he shares with seven other players. “It started very well,” Peters commented, after passing through the green grass. “The first nine holes were good and I was less than three. I had to take a risk to close the gap to the leaders and I did two bad drives in the 10th and 14th holes. I didn’t regret it. My situation was better than in the past two days but I couldn’t take advantage of the opportunities I had in the second part of the session”. (Belga)
