This is in any case the ambition of the American company Orbital Assembly Corporation, which just announced the launch of not one, but two space stations with tourist accommodations.

There is currently talk of two space hotels: the Pioneer station, which can accommodate 28 people, should be operational in just three years, in 2025, while the Voyager station, with a capacity of 400 people, is scheduled to open in 2027.
Space tourism more accessible than today?
Do these ads indicate the democratization of space tourism in the future? So far, only a few billionaires can withstand a few hours in space. However, Tim Alatori, chief operating officer of Orbital Assembly, explained during an interview CNN That “the goal has always been to enable large numbers of people to live, work and thrive in space.” These places of a new type will include not only bedrooms, but also offices.

What exactly would staying in a space hotel look like? Orbital Assembly presents “Pioneers Class” as “the world’s first and largest hybrid space station for work and residence.” The Pioneer station will offer different levels of attractiveness: a comfortable one that allows you to shower, eat and drink while sitting, without having to be tied to a bed, for example, and a less attractive one for entertainment. . Current conditions are impossible on existing space stations.
“For ordinary people, being in space would be a sci-fi dream experience,” Tim Alatori said in an Orbital Society press release. “We want to make space a destination that people want to visit,” he added.
Studying the health consequences of space tourism
Be warned, going on a space vacation has nothing to do with a traditional stay. Long stays in space can have health consequences, particularly due to microgravity. This is why the Orbital Assembly Corporation announced that it has partnered with several entities to “deepen the study of synthetic gravity in human physiology.”
