Apple iPhone SE 2022 test: The quiet power, but very powerful

Apple iPhone SE 2022 test: The quiet power, but very powerful

Apple retains the 12MP wide-angle module from the previous generation iPhone SE. But if optics doesn’t change, the A15 Bionic’s contribution offers new imaging capabilities that the presence of the ISP inside the chip carries. So the iPhone SE (2022) benefits from Smart HDR and Deep Fusion, but also the “shoot modes” that came with the iPhone 13.

Main unit: 12 MP, f / 1.8, eq. 28 mm

In the mid-range segment, it is currently Realme 9 Pro + Who is the best in the photo booth. So we will compare with the latter the new iPhone SE.

Despite the serious colorimetry, the Realme model provides a more detailed shot than the iPhone SE. As usual, Apple prefers a natural tone, even if that means ignoring the sharpness. The result is no less honorable.

Same note at night. Preferring a more natural picture, the iPhone SE 2022 does not rise with a high degree of sensitivity, unlike the Realme 9 Pro +. The contrast is also greater, but the image presented by the Chinese model is much better exposed and more detailed.

Front unit, portrait and video position

On the front, the iPhone SE also retains its predecessor’s 7-megapixel sensor. A unit that will not shine, but it is very good for selfies, especially thanks to the good exposure management by the device.

Portrait mode is software-only dependent, as the device lacks the depth sensor available on high-end iPhones. The clip is very good, but it easily gets stuck on hair or certain parts of the body. For example, if you have an arm far from your chest, the iPhone can easily blur the background. The analysis also applies to the front unit, but for a portrait this is still more than enough.

The video part does not change one iota. The iPhone SE can shoot up to 4K at 60 fps or 1080p at up to 240 fps. Thanks to integrated optical stabilization (OIS), plans will not suffer from the effect of vibration. With the front unit, the user will be able to shoot up to 1080p at 120 frames per second.
