Oscar’s Favorite ‘Dog Power’ Movie: Sam Elliott Complains About Netflix Western Movies
Someone’s cowboy hat is embarrassing…
American actor Sam Elliott (77) is a Western legend, no doubt. In his 50-year career, he slipped into the role of a cowboy in films like “Tombstone” and “The Big Lebowski.”
He loves and lives for this type of movie, but his current comments on Netflix Western and Oscar favorite “The Power of the Dog” aren’t entirely unanimous.

Western drama with Kirsten Dunst and Benedict Cumberbatch has been nominated for seven Academy Awards and is celebrated around the world.
Sam Elliott sees it a little differently…
First, he has a site issue, as he explained in the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast.
“Why the hell are you shooting this movie in New Zealand and calling it Montana?” He is surprised by the choice of director Jane Campion.
She is “a great director by the way, I love her work and her previous work. But what does that woman know from below, New Zealand, about the American Wild West?” wonders Elliott.
But Eliot clearly has a really big problem with the guys in the movie. Looks like they’re not manly enough for him…
Scenes with shirtless cowboys would have reminded him of Chippendale dancers. For him, Elliott says the movie is a “dirty piece”.
