“It was really hard, the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” the 24-year-old said Wednesday on “The Late Late Show” hosted by James Corden. “I felt so disconnected. But that’s how my life is now.”

Lorde said she was motivated by wanting to have more time for her music. “I’m really doing it because I’m trying to write songs and I’ve wasted a lot of time.” For this reason, she has opted out of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Thus, the isolated videos and messages, which can still be found mainly on Lorde’s official Facebook page, may not have been posted by the singer herself.

Lorde released her third studio album, “Solar” last Friday – nearly four years after the release of her latest studio album, “Melodrama.” The singer-songwriter, actually named Ella Yelich-O’Connor, rose to fame in 2013 with her debut album “Pure Heroine”. The single “Royals” took first place on the charts in many countries. After the follow-up album “Melodrama” (2017) she largely withdrew from the audience.
