However, the emergence of variable deltas in French Polynesia during July and August 2021 caused demand to drop. The international air show of the new IATA winter season 2021-2022 is practically identical to the air show of the previous winter season (2020-2021) on the routes to be presented.

With the lifting of restrictions and health improvements, in French Polynesia, airline activity, in terms of volume, is on the rise. The performance of all global companies compared to 2019 is improving. United almost regained traffic for 2019.

The resumption of transatlantic flights announced in early November should improve the performance of French companies.

Entry requirements for international passengers established in French Polynesia’s major tourism source markets tend to ease, but remain an impediment to the roll-out of the Territory’s international air transport offer for the new IATA season this winter of 2021-2022.

The borders of New Zealand, Japan, Chile (Rapa Nui) and the Cook Islands remain closed. So there is no proposal for air service on the following ways:

  • Papeete – Auckland (Air New Zealand, Air Tahiti Nui)
  • Papeete – Tokyo (United Airlines UA)
  • Papeete – Easter Island – Santiago (Latam)
  • Papeete – Rarotonga (Air Tahiti)
