Just a few weeks ago, Lorde’s third studio album, Solar, was released. Now, the New Zealand pop star has surprisingly released another CD called “Tai Ao Marama”, which is sung entirely on Te Rio Maori.

It’s only been two weeks since Lorde impressed her fans with her new “Solar” record holder. After storming the charts in no time with her third studio album, the 24-year-old offers the following surprise: On Thursday, Lorde released an accompanying album called “Te Ao Mārama,” which in Maori means “world of light.” I mean. The New Zealand singer has re-recorded five tracks from her new album in te reo Māori, the original language of her homeland.

The titles of the five selected tracks for the mini album have also been translated: “Track” becomes “Tara Tika”, “Solar” becomes “Tai Ao Marama”, “Stoning at the Nail Salon” becomes “Mata Khor”, “Fallen Fruit” becomes “Hua” Pirau” and “Oceanic Feeling” became “Hine-i-te-Awatea”. In an interview with New Zealand’s online magazine “The Spinoff,” Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor and does not speak to te reo Māori herself, said she has worked with Maori artists such as the project singer Hinewehi Mohi working together. Proceeds from the sale of the album will go to two charities in New Zealand.

When she debuted “Pure Heroine” in 2013, Lorde was only 16 years old. A year later she received a Grammy Award for the song “Royals”.
