After creating the Alpha Centauri Astronomy Club in 1981 along with his friends Georges Varennes and Serge Chevrell, now an astronomer at Irap, Guy Anduze repeats the experience alongside Georges Varennes by creating the Hélios Astronomie Society. On this evening’s Program with Your Head in the Stars, Under the Stars conference hosted by Patrick Bennett, currently director of research at CNRS and former founder of the Alpha Centauri Astronomy Club, Serge Chevrell, now an astronomer at the Institute for Research in Astrophysics and Planetary Science.
The conference will focus on the exploration of Mars by rovers sent from Earth and the return of humans to the Moon. Then a big first show, around 11:15 p.m., will show the Hélios Astronomie Society observing the passage of the International Space Station, with national astronaut Thomas Bisquet on board, which will pass 495 kilometers above the monastery.
To end the evening with a magical observation, it will also be possible from 11:30 pm to contemplate through a telescope the giant planets of the local Caunes-Minervois such as Saturn and Jupiter, as well as nebulae and galaxies. It is a free evening that promises to be rich in knowledge and discovery.
