Xiaomi on Friday unveiled its new range of foldable smartphones in China with the Xiaomi Mix Flip and Mix Fold 4. But smartphones aren't the only ones in the spotlight and the manufacturer also took the opportunity to introduce its new connected watch, the Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport.

This new connected watch model is the first of its kind designed by Xiaomi to be specifically geared towards sports use. To do this, the manufacturer has teamed up with a company specializing in sports watches, a competitor of Garmin: the Finnish manufacturer Suunto.

Ultra-resistant watch

While the Xiaomi Watch S3 featured a customizable design, with the possibility of changing the bezel, the Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport will focus on monitoring and enduring sports activity. Concretely, the watch includes most of the features expected from a Xiaomi watch, with continuous monitoring of VO2Max or heart rate. On this subject, the company notes that the on-board sensor for measuring heart rate and SpO2 measurement offers an accuracy rate of up to 97.2%.

The Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport is also equipped with a titanium rotating wheel, as well as two control buttons. It can be used for diving up to 40 meters, and has a sapphire crystal on the front and back, with titanium for the rest of the case. The Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport also benefits from a 1.43-inch Amoled panel that can reach a brightness of up to 2200 nits / square meter.

In terms of sports tracking, the Chinese manufacturer notes that its watch is equipped with dual-frequency GNSS tracking compatible with GPS, Glonass, Galileo and QZSS.

Watch designed in partnership with Suunto

The watch stands out from the classic watches in that it is particularly connected to sports algorithms and functions. The Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport was actually designed in partnership with Suunto. The sports watch specialist has thus integrated its own algorithms to accurately assess the user's lactate threshold – particularly useful for endurance sports. Suunto also allows the integration of local maps, even without an internet connection, as well as navigation and a navigation system to return to the starting point.

In addition, the watch is offered in an eSIM version. For autonomy, you will need to count on 15 days of use in classic mode, 9 days with eSIM connection, and 26 hours in GPS tracking.

The Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport will be launched first in China where it will start at 1,999 yuan or 252 euros. At the moment, we still do not know if Xiaomi plans to launch it in Europe and specifically in France.
