WhatsApp: Here is the list of new features that are coming in 2023
The WhatsApp instant messaging application continues to evolve in order to offer new uses to its users. This is what awaits you.
After starting to roll out changes to messages you’ve already sent, or even locking chats you choose, WhatsApp is testing new features including screen sharing and searching by username.
It was WABetaInfo that discovered publishing these features in the latest Android beta updates for the instant messaging service. At the moment, no official information has been sent via WhatsApp, but these novelties could be launched in the coming months.
username
This feature will allow WhatsApp users to choose a unique name for their account, similar to other apps like Twitter. Remember that today it is necessary to find the phone number of the interlocutor in order to add it to the conversation.
According to WABetaInfo, conversations that start with a username will be end-to-end encrypted, and the feature will add “an extra layer of privacy to their account,” by allowing the user to track their name but not their phone number.
At the moment, this functionality is still under development and is being offered to beta testers, who are responsible for testing a computer product before its possible release, in a future update of the application.
Screen sharing
Some beta testers have also discovered after installing the latest WhatsApp for Android beta update that it is now possible to share screen content during a video call.
It is suffit to cela d’appuyer sur un bouton dans une section dédiée pour activer l’option et alors «tout ce qui s’affiche sur votre écran sera enregistré et partagé avec le destinataire», comme on peut par le faire avec Teams de Microsoft for example. Again, a future update should allow everyone to access it.
Archiving systems
Another potential new feature, present in the beta versions, is the archiving of states. This feature allows companies to archive cases, allowing temporary information to be shared.
While at the moment these disappear after 24 hours, it will be possible to share them later. According to WABetaInfo, this functionality appears to be limited to business accounts.
